UAN and REMEB provide researchers with guidelines to access Horizon 2020 funds

The Vice-rectorate for Research and PhD of Universidad de los Andes (Colombia) invited faculty, researchers, directors and research coordinators to participate in the Colombian Success Stories Day in the European Union’s Horizon 2020 project, which took place on Monday, December 5.

The objective of this event was to learn how to get Horizon 2020 funds through experts in Colombian universities which have participated in or are currently carrying out projects resulted from successful proposals. That is the case of the REMEB project, aiming to develop an eco-friendly ceramic membrane bioreactor for wastewater reuse, where Universidad Antonio Nariño is a partner. Javier Rincón, Dr Sci. Q. at the Colombian University participated in the programme with a presentation of the project and provided attendees with useful guidelines on how to look for potential partners, how to face the proposal formulation and execute the project once it has been approved by the European Commission.

REMEB (Recycled Membrane Bioreactor) is a Research and Development project funded by the European Commission under grant agreement No. 641998, in the framework of the call H2020-WATER-2014. It is a project for first market application developments. With a total budget of 2,361,622.50 Euros, it has a duration of three years, starting in September 2015 and concluding in August 2018.

Horizon 2020 of the European Union is a funding programme for research and innovation of € 80 billion for the period 2014-2020. It offers funding opportunities for research and collaborative innovation projects carried out by consortia of organizations working together in specific research and innovation areas. Colombia is part of the Third Countries in the category Automatically eligible non-EU applicants, that is, automatically eligible to access to the Horizon 2020 plan.
